My net friend Kari, She is a Hongkong movie fan in UK. She send me newest Anthony report at UK. I'm very thanks for her. And prease enjoy this page together !
On Saturday 3rd October 1999, the fan club Hong Kong Superstars held a film show at the MAC cinema in Birmingham, England. Three films were shown -- Jackie Chan My Stunts, Blade (directed by Tsui Hark) and Beast Cops. Before Beast Cops Anthony Wong made a special appearance. This was the second time he had appeared at an event in the UK. The first time was in spring 1998 when he visited the National Film Theatre in London to introduce his film Full Contact. He arrived at the MAC cinema at about 3 pm. About 100 fans had come to see him, from all over the UK and also from overseas -- Taiwan, Norway, Ireland and the USA. Anthony came on stage wearing a lion mask which was very funny. He took it off when he was introduced by Hong Kong Superstars president Chris Ducker. He looked very well, and rather slimmer than he had been in 1998. He was wearing a dark shirt and jeans, a black leather jacket and sunglasses. He was very friendly and very modest to all the fans. First of all he made a short speecha dn then he answered questions from the audience. he tols us he was pleased to come back to England and amazed to see so much support for Hong Kong films. His English is very good, although he was nervous about speaking it. He told a story about winning the Best Actor award in Hong Kong for Beast Cops. He found when he arrived at the theatre for the award ceremony that his seat number was 14, which is a very unlucky number to the Cantonese. Lau Ching-Wan was sitting next to him in seat 13, which is a lucky number. Anthony Wong thought he would have bad luck! Then he was offered a chance to move to another seat, because Jackie Chan wanted to sit nearer the stage. So Anthony Wong moved seat: his new seat number was 18. The award ceremony was the 18th Movie award ceremony in Hong Kong: so this seat was very lucky: he thought it was a very good omen for him -- and he won the award, so he was right! Chris Ducker asked him if he thought bit was because of his good acting that he won the award, and Anthony said no, it was just the lucky seat number! After telling the story, he answered lots of questions from the audience.
